Sacred Acts – Baptism: This morning God will declare Vincent James Joyce to be His beloved child through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism. Vincent’s parents are James and Jennifer (Nee Scutt) Joyce. His Godparents are Michael McCormick and Maria McCormick. We rejoice that Vincent is a member of God’s Kingdom and we pray that as he grows in years he will continue to hear, read, and learn God’s Word so that, by the power of the Holy Spirit, he will endure in the faith that Jesus is God’s Son and his Savior from sin and death all the days of his life and obtain eternal life in heaven.

UPC Labels are being collected from Campbell Soups, Pepperidge Farm, Franco-American, and Prego products. The daycare is spearheading this drive with assistance from some of the Dorcas ladies. The only part of the label needed is the little rectangular section marked with a barcode and titled “Labels for Education.” There is a box on the back table for leaving your labels. Currently we have 2010 points with labels, but are trying for more in order to redeem them for needed school items. 350 pts “buys” large crayons, a soft 12 ft balance beam is 5950 pts, a Lego set is 3,350 pts. Gym scooters are 750 pts. A new floor mat is 11,300 points. Please help by saving, cutting, and bringing in your labels.

Hands And Harvest Craft Festival: The church table needs YOUR donations of any handcrafted items for sale. We will happily use knitted, crocheted, hand painted, sewn, embroidered, paper, wood, etc. in other words; we want anything hand-done. We also are looking for any home made jams, jellies, pickles, or home canned items. ANY items can be brought into the church office and given to Deb or Pastor. Please suggest a price for the items you donate. All money raised from the sale of items at the church table will be added to the money we give to Sheba for the care of the orphans. This is a wonderful stewardship of the talents God has given us! And PLEASE come out and support our efforts on October 24th. We have about 30 different vendors renting tables, so there should be something to interest everyone. Invite a friend! Come for lunch!

Compassion Clement Mission Update: Please take a minute to look at the pictures Sheba sent recently that are taped on the library windows. As you can see they have drilled their well and started construction of the dorms and kitchen-dining area. Since the purchase of the land, $5000.00 in contributions have been received and sent. However, the construction has stopped until more donations are received. Please consider picking up a crayola bank on the table in the lounge and return it to the church when filled. Just like all the little raindrops can create a flood, so can every little contribution add up to make a significant difference. If you have any questions, please contact Betty Wood, DCO. Thank you and God Bless.

Lutheran Digest: Have you missed the Spring Issue of Lutheran Digest? Most all of us have! The reason our church has not received our recent issues is due to the retirement of Betty Allen (our long time sales agent). Finally, after many weeks of investigating, I have discovered that our church will not receive anymore issues until a Sales Agent is found to take over the handling of the Wellsville area. If someone is found quickly, (1-2 weeks) we might be able to start getting the Digest again with the Fall 2009 issue. If anyone is interested in finding out more about what the job would entail, please call the Lutheran Digest headquarters at 952-933-2820. Please be sure to tell them you are representing Trinity Lutheran Church.

1. Jacob Francis Cornelius – Revelation 2:10

We praise God that through their study of God’s Word they have grown in their faith in God and His Son Jesus as their Savior and have begun to learn the basics of the Christian faith. It is our sincere prayer that they will continue to faithfully attend worship, study God’s Word, and partake of Holy Communions so that by the work of the Holy Spirit they will continue to mature in the Christian faith and Christian life.

News and Notes From This Week's Bulletin - May 3, 2009

National Day Of Prayer (May 7) theme is Prayer America's Hope! It's based on Psalm 33:22, which says, "May Your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in You.” This is an extremely critical time in America's history. From economic pressures, to the ongoing threat of terrorism, to the unraveling of our culture's moral fabric, many people are dealing with a deep sense of uncertainty and apprehension
However, we can be confident that when we come to God in humble prayer, He hears us and stands ready to respond to our cries for help. Our forefathers sought the Almighty for guidance and safekeeping; and we, too, can depend on His divine intervention if we will turn to Him in repentance and prayer. That will be our purpose as we gather with other people of faith across the nation on May 7th. For more information, go to this website: http://www.ndptf.org/

Pot Luck Dinner will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2009, after worship. It will be a classic potluck dinner with an entrĂ©e provided. Members are asked to consider a $2 donation to help cover expenses. Disposable pans are available next to the sign-up sheet for this event, and each dish to pass will “cover” four people so those who do cook are encouraged to partner up with those who do not so that we can be sure of plentiful, delicious and varied dishes! Contributions of good look, charm and especially dish-pan hands are also important so come on down and join the fun. Any questions, speak to Shelly Dunne.

Confirmation Reunion Celebration On Sunday, June 28th, we will remember our Confirmation and renew our Baptismal vows. We are looking to locate as many former members as possible. Forms to be filled out can be found on the lounge table. Any questions please see Eleanor Cott or Betty Wood.
