Christian Education Day: Saturday, September 10 at 7:30pm and Sunday, September 11 at 10:30am. The emphasis of the worship services these two days will be on the importance for individuals of all ages to learn and study God’s Word.

Christian Education Picnic: Following the service today there will be a church picnic in the Pavilion. The menu included hotdogs, hamburgers, snacks, and lemonade. A free will offering will be collected. There will be games for the children. Please Come!

Our Christian Education Programs Begin In September.

Christian Education Day: Saturday, September 10 at 7:30pm and Sunday, September 11 at 10:30am. The emphasis of the worship services these two days will be on the importance for individuals of all ages to learn and study God’s Word.

Confirmation Meeting: A meeting about our Confirmation Program will be held Monday, September 12 at 6:00pm in the church proper. Youth in Grades 5 and up as well as parents should attend.

Sunday School: Sunday School will begin on Sunday, September 18 at 9:00am. There are classes for children beginning at age 3 through and including High School.

Registration will be held on Sunday, September 11 after the worship service. There will be a table near the church lounge for registration. You may also register on Sunday, September 18 at 9:00am. Registration that day will be held in the hall by the parking lot entrance.

First Year Confirmation Class: This class will also begin on Sunday, September 18 at 9:00am. This class deals entirely with the Bible (Bible history, the Books of the Bible, how to read it, etc.), Chris Gallmann is the teacher.

Second Year Confirmation Class: This class, taught by Pastor Morris, will begin as well on Sunday, September 18. We will meet after the church service. We will be learning the different essential teachings of the Bible.

Sunday Adult Bible Class: As the name indicates, this class meets on Sundays at 9:00am. (Please note that there will be no class on Sunday, September 4th or 11th.) Our topic is “The Life of Jesus as written by Matthew.” Pastor Morris is the teacher.

Biible Breakfast: This class, taught by Pastor Morris, meets on Tuesdays. We have breakfast from 9:30am to 10:00am and then bible study from 10:00am to 11:00am. Our topic is the “Book of Exodus”. The first class will be Tuesday, September 20.

Coffee And The Word: Every Saturday beginning at 9:30am we have coffee, donuts, and open discussion concerning different Biblical topics. These topics are often brought up by the participants. The class is led by Dick Helms.

Women Of Excellence: This class meets every Thursday at 1:00pm. The class, taught by Betty Wood, deals with Biblical teachings concerning issues faced by women.

Christian Education Picnic: Following the Christian Education Service on Sunday, September 11th there will be a church picnic in the Pavilion. (It should begin around 12:00 Noon). The menu included hotdogs, hamburgers, snacks, and lemonade. A free will offering will be collected. There will be games for the children. Please Come!

Help Needed For Church Picnic: We need some volunteers to help set-up a few tables around 9:00AM, bring food to pavilion, cook, and supervise games. Please volunteer. It will not be difficult work. Sign-up sheet is on the table in the church lounge.

Quarterly Congregational Meeting: Our next regular congregational meeting will be Sunday, September 11 after the picnic. The meeting will be a quick update of congregational affairs.

Hands And Harvest Craft Sale – Are you a handcrafter? How about a friend or family? Our sale will be Saturday, October 15th, 10AM to 3PM. We need vendors!! Tables are available for $15 for the day. Sacred Acts – Baptism: On Saturday, August 13, 2011, Dashel Arnold Ball, the son of Brad and Annie (nee Hurd) Ball was baptized “In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” His Godparents are Greg and Lindsy Palmer. We praise God that through Holy Baptism He has claimed Dashel to be His Son whom He loves. We pray that Dashel will throughout the years continually hear and be taught the Gospel so that he will remain steadfast in the faith that Jesus is his Savior and thereby obtain eternal life.

Congregational Congratulations are extended to Noah Walter Gallmann Bennett. Meredith Downing Dunne, and Carolanne Marie Schmitt upon their confession of faith in God and especially in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, as their Savior from sin and death through the Rite of Confirmation. We praise God that He, through His Word and Sacraments, has created and strengthened their faith in Him and Christ. We fervently pray that they will faithfully continue to hear, read, and study His Word and partake of the Lord’s Supper so that they will continue to mature and remain steadfast in the faith that Jesus is the Savior all the days of their lives and receive the great gift of everlasting life in heaven.

Push For Our Fundraiser – Pull Some Pork! Today is the last day to buy tickets for daycare’s one and only annual fundraiser this Friday afternoon, June 10, 3:30-6:00 pm. Push For Our Fundraiser – Pull Some Pork! The daycare’s one and only annual fundraiser is Friday afternoon, June 10, 3:30-6:00 pm. Our pulled pork dinner makes for a supper that is inexpensive, tasty, and easily picked up in the church parking without getting out of your car. Tickets, advance sale only, are $6 – available at the daycare office and/or Sundays before and after church. You may also phone the daycare at 593-3820 to reserve your tickets. The menu is a pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, cole slaw, pickle, and brownie. The proceeds will go to equipment. An additional $405.00 was sent to Faith Comes By Hearing for the purchase of the black Bible Sticks that will be distributed to chaplains in the armed forces for dispersal to the troops. Another donation of $50 was recently received and will be sent along. The original sample Bible Stick that was received from the organization will be in the church office and may be borrowed by congregational members. Sacred Acts – Baptism: This Easter Sunday at the 7:30 AM service, David Michael Lamberson, son of Michael and Kathleen (nee Vossler) Lamberson, will be raised to a new life as a child of God through Baptism. David’s Godparents are Scott and Kelly Vossler. It is our sincere prayer that as David grows in years, he be brought up in the Lord and remain in fellowship with the church so that by the power of the Holy Spirit, he may remain steadfast in the faith all the days of his life that Jesus is his Savior from sin and death.

The Lenten Banner “Given For You” focuses on the ultimate gift of God for the world’s redemption: His own Son on the cross. Jesus’ body and blood “given for you”. Easter Memorial Donations will be accepted until Monday, April 18 in memory of your loved ones. Easter Memorials We are continuing with the practice of Easter memorials. You are asked to make your contribution in memory of a loved one to Trinity Lutheran Church. YMCA Update – This past Monday our steering committee met with the Y heads in Olean. Our main purpose was to clarify the role of our daycare within the proposed partnership. Being that the daycare is financially stable and functioning with a quality program, the committee felt that more would be lost than gained by placing it under the Y. Our daycare will remain independent of the Y and as a mission under the auspices of our church. Jake Steger, the Y’s CEO and Norm Moore, their Board Chair were most understanding of our position. It is likely that some child programs on Y's part will be initiated, but will be aligned with recommendations from our daycare board and administration. Their original interest in partnering for land remains. Their architects are drawing up options for building location and traffic patterns. Once these details are in place, all will be shared prior to a congregational vote.

THE “Y” UPDATE: Last Sunday Jake Steger of the Olean YMCA gave an overview of the Y’s programs and a very generalized plan for our Wellsville area. Several questions were asked; traffic pattern, building site, a pool, daycare, amount of land; however, at this time, no answers are forthcoming until further discussions and studies are done. Our committee, working at Council’s direction, is charged with the task of gathering information in this “exploratory” phase. The committee has made two requests to the Y – their proposals for the land and for the daycare. Once the Y has spoken, our committee will react by working through the details so that there might eventually be a “win-win” situation for all. It is important that the church receive certain benefits and that the quality and programming of our daycare be maintained in the right spiritual and business way. Please remember that final package will be presented to the congregation for approval. Written questions are appreciated. Please direct your concerns and comments to the committee by leaving them in the church office. You do not need to sign your name. Committee members are: Marv Wood, Betty Wood, Carol English, Dick Kling, Deb Martin and Diane Vossler (congregational representative pending council approval).

Important Change: Please note that the Bible Study “Becoming a Woman of Excellence” is now meeting on Thursday afternoons at 1:00 pm beginning March 17th. Please contact Betty Wood if you have any questions. It is still NOT too late to participate. Thank you.

We welcome competitors in both categories and need all the tasters we can get for the popular vote that will determine the winners. There will also be a Chili Bean Bag Toss Tournament for those who would like to join in the fun without nearing the kitchen. Sign-up sheets are in the church lounge. The Evangelism Committee will be collecting small items to send to the Helms’ boys to distribute to their service buddies. Could you contribute a small item or two to make lives a bit better for these people who are defending our country? We will package them up and have boxes on the way by the end of January. Some ideas (direct from Jim Helms) are:

Building Use – Our church facility is available for members/nonmembers use. However, we ask that you please submit a building use form to the properties board for prior approval. This form may be obtained at the church office. This will eliminate problems of someone using the church when it has already been reserved by another member. This also applies to the use of the older tables and chairs which also must be reserved at the church office. Church groups who normally don’t fill out a building use form – please, you still need to clear your special activity date with properties chairman and the church secretary to avoid conflicts on the church calendar. The Properties Board appreciates your cooperation on this matter. Thank you.

Bible Study resumes: “Becoming a Woman of Excellence” meets again on Sunday, January 9th at 7:00 pm. The group meets in the church library. Please join us, it’s not too late. It is never too late to study God’s Word.

Sacred Acts – Baptism: This morning Darnell Love Watson and Alexis Elaine Watson, children of Dean Watson and Carrie Flanagan Watson, will confess their faith in the one God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Holy Baptism. At the same time, God declares Darnell as His son whom He loves and Elaine as His daughter whom He loves. Their Godparents are Dale and Tiersa Watson. We praise God for His love and grace He bestows through Baptism and pray that Darnell and Elaine will continue to grow in the Christian faith and life.

Clarification on Thrivent Choice Dollars and who can vote: In order to be eligible to direct funds to a church or organization that has been registered with Thrivent, an individual has to have paid $800 or more in annual premiums; have a policy with a cash value of $20,000 or more or a settlement option. Mutual funds are not included. If you are eligible, you will receive a letter and it will tell you how much money you have to direct. Voting continues until March of 2011. Sacred Acts – Baptism: This morning Haleigh Grace Golish, (daughter of Adam Felmler and Kelly Golish Vossler); and Christian August Vossler, (son of Scott and Kelly Vossler); will be baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Through their baptism, God by the power of the Holy Spirit will claim them as His beloved children. It is our sincere prayer that Haleigh and Christian will hear God’s Word, especially the good news of salvation won by Jesus Christ and remain in fellowship with the Church so that they may continue to grow in the Christian faith and life.

Sacred Acts – Baptism: This morning following this worship service Kelly Sue Vossler will confess her faith in God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and receive the Holy Spirit for the strengthening of her faith in the Sacrament of Holy Baptism. We rejoice that she is a daughter of our Lord God and we pray that she may continue to remain in fellowship with the church so that she may grow in the Christian faith and life.

Daycare CD - During the Lenten Season, our Daycare children learned several songs and a poem. With the help of Pete Carlin, our little ones became recording artists and recorded a CD. Along with the CD, the children made booklets to go along with the song, “Two Little Eyes to Look to God”. They are on display in the hallway. We hope you enjoy hearing the CD this morning.

Easter Egg Hunt: We will once again have on Easter Egg Hunt for the entire community on Saturday, April 3 from 10:30 – 11:45 AM. The hunt is for ages 3 – grade 4. Please spread the word. Volunteers are needed to help supervise the children on the hunt and for snacks. Please consider making a monetary donation in the donation jug on the lounge table so we can purchase appropriate snacks. Small wrapped candy donations to fill eggs are also appreciated. Please sign your name on the sign-up sheet on the table if you can help and bring any small wrapped candies to the church office. Thank you!

Easter Breakfast Will Be Held AT 9 AM between the two Easter Services. If you would like to join us to eat, please sign up on the sheet in the lounge. Suggested donation for breakfast is $3 per person. Helpers are also appreciated to help with the breakfast, especially clean up! Thank you.
