News and Notes From This Week's Bulletin - Sunday, January 27th

The Season Of Lent will begin with Ash Wednesday, February 6th. Lent is a time when we focus specifically on the suffering and death of God’s Son Jesus Christ. As we do we learn how destructive our sin really is. However, we also learn of the certainty of our salvation from that sin. This year, to help us focus on Jesus’ suffering and death, we will hold midweek Lenten Services every Wednesday during Lent. The first service will be Ash Wednesday, February 6th at 7:00PM. The service will include the Distribution of Ashes and Holy Communion. The subsequent services will be held each Wednesday at 6:30PM beginning February 13th. A soup and sandwich dinner will precede each of those services. The dinners will begin at 5:45 pm. The theme of these services is “Christ On Trial”. You will find them interesting and, more importantly, a real blessing to your faith for God’s Word produces fruit. Please come.

Coffee Hour Hosts Are Needed! There are numerous dates open on the sign up sheet. Please consider signing up.

We Will Begin a Coffee Clutch Bible Study beginning Saturday, February 2nd from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Our topic of study will be Biblical evangelism. All are invited.

Guest Speaker - On Tuesday, February 5th, at 7:00 pm. we will have Missionary Elaine Schiffer as a guest speaker. Elaine was a missionary in India and can share more information about the work that Sheba is doing there. Please make every effort to attend.

Donations Needed - Dena Helms has expressed a need for some of our military personnel and we hope that we can help her in obtaining some of these items, which she will then distribute. She requests hygiene items such as: hand sanitizer, toothbrushes, toothpaste, body wipes, tee shirts, talcum powder, foot powder, chap stick, and any other personal items (in small containers, PLEASE!)(Frequently, the soldiers in the filed do not have the opportunity for showers, etc. and must make do as they can.) There is a box in the lounge for your contributions. If anyone is able and willing to knit for our troops, there is a need for helmet liners, which when worn under a helmet, helps them keep warm in the cold weather. Knit or crocheted lap robes would be welcome for hospital patients. Karalee has the pattern for helmet liners; please speak to her if you are willing to help.

Little Loaves Of Bread For Sheba And The Orphans – The ‘Love Loaf’ program recently used for World Vision International has been discontinued by them. Our youth group has decided to continue to use the loaves to raise money for our India Mission Society to help Sheba and the orphans. If you have a loaf please continue to fill it and bring it to church or give it to one of the youth group members. There are about 25 empty loaves in the lounge if anyone would like to participate in this mission. Any questions, please contact Julie Shaver or Betty Wood.

The Youth Group meets every Friday at Trinity from 6-9 pm. Any youth, ages 11-18, are welcome to attend. We do weekly prayer lists, teen discussions, work on many charity events and are currently working on the new youth room. Come join us, we would love to see you there!

Souper Bowl Sunday! On Sunday, February 3, we will be collecting money to help the Well Spring Ministry of Angelica. This non-denominational ministry helps residents of Allegany County in need of clothing, food, and home furnishings.
