News and Notes for Sunday, September 15, 2013

Sacred Acts – Baptism: Last Saturday, September 7 during the evening worship service, Emma Kathrine Hunt, daughter of Andrew Hunt and Laura Link was baptized with water and God’s Word. Through Emma’s baptism, God washed away her sin, planted the seed of faith in Jesus as her Savior, and declared to all, “This is my daughter who I dearly love.” Emma’s Godparents are Brian Link and Kayla Vossler. We definitely thank and praise God that through Emma’s baptism He has adopted her as His child. We also pray that as she grows as a child, her parents will bring her up in the Lord and that throughout her entire earthly life she will faithfully hear, read, and study God’s Word, remember her baptism, and partake of the Lord’s Supper so that her faith in Jesus will continually grow and she will be empowered to remain faithful to Him all the days of her life and inherit eternal life.

News and Notes for Sunday August 4, 2013

VBS is just around the corner. It begins Monday, August 12 and ends on Friday, August 16. In order to be prepared for the start of VBS, your help is desperately needed for the following:
  1. People to lend us artificial Christmas trees. (It is ok to bring in trees with lights on them. However, please no other decorations.) You are asked to put your name on the bottom of the tree so we can return it to you after VBS.
  2. Monetary donations to help cover the expenses of the light supper, snacks, and juice that we serve to each child every night. You may place your donation in the can which is labeled on the table in the church lounge.
  3. Spread the word about our VBS to the children in your neighborhood. Invite them to attend.
  4. Last, but certainly not least, Pray for God’s Spirit to give us guidance, wisdom, and the words to teach the Gospel clearly. Also ask that His word will bear fruit.

News and Notes for Sunday, July 28, 2013

Sacred Acts – Baptism: This morning through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism God will declare Paul Joseph Lamberson, son of Michael and Kathleen (Vossler) Lamberson, as His very own child whom He dearly loves. Paul’s Godparents are Scott and Kelly Vossler. We praise God for the washing away of sin and the planting of the seed of faith in Christ that He works through the water and the Word of Holy Baptism. We pray that as Paul grows in years, he will be brought up in the Lord and remain in fellowship with Christ’s Church all the days of his life so that he will mature and remains steadfast in the faith that Jesus is the Savior and inherit eternal life in heaven.

Food For The Poor: Since the inception of Food for the Poor, it has grown to be the first-largest international relief organization in th eU.S. according to the Chronicle of Philanthrapy. Since it’s beginning it has provided over 8.3 billion dollars to help the destitute around the world. Along with feeding hundreds of thousands of individuals daily, FFP has drilled countless water wells so that people could have clean drinking water, provided life saving medical care, education to children that will enable them to break free from the cycle of poverty that has haunted their families for generations, built more than 78,000 homes so that families can finally have shelter from the elements, and even establish enterprises that are now profitable and the skills to work in those enterprises so that individuals and families will actually have the finances to live on their own. Pastor Gerald Kovac of St. Louis, MO will share the story of this Christian ministry this morning in his message entitled, “Letting the Son Shine Through”. He will also give us the opportunity to participate in this ministry through a special offering. We warmly welcome Pastor Kovac today.

News and Notes for Sunday, June 2, 2013

The Rite Of Confirmation: This morning, in the Rite of Confirmation, four of our congregation’s youth will publically confess their faith in the Lord God – who He is, what He has done, what He continues to do now, and what He will do in the future – as He revealed to us through His Word, the Holy Scriptures. The four youth and their individual confirmation verses are:
  • Bailey Dorothy Gallmann Bennett – St. Luke 11:28
  • Mackenzie Leigh Gallmann Bennett – St. John 8:12
  • Aidan Stewart Patrick – St. John 3:16
  • Jada Nicole White – Joshua 1:9
We praise God that through their study of His Word, the Holy Spirit has increased their knowledge of the Christian faith and life. Above all, we praise Him that the Spirit has strengthened their faith that they have been saved from sin, death, and the devil for God’s Son Jesus Christ by His death on the cross and resurrection from the grave defeated sin, death, and the devil for all who believe. It is our sincere prayer that they will faithfully attend worship; hear, read, study, and digest His Word; and partake of the Lord’s Supper for then, by the Spirit’s power, they can fight the good fight of faith, remain faithful to Christ all the days of their lives, and obtain everlasting life in heaven.
