News and Notes for Sunday, September 15, 2013

Sacred Acts – Baptism: Last Saturday, September 7 during the evening worship service, Emma Kathrine Hunt, daughter of Andrew Hunt and Laura Link was baptized with water and God’s Word. Through Emma’s baptism, God washed away her sin, planted the seed of faith in Jesus as her Savior, and declared to all, “This is my daughter who I dearly love.” Emma’s Godparents are Brian Link and Kayla Vossler. We definitely thank and praise God that through Emma’s baptism He has adopted her as His child. We also pray that as she grows as a child, her parents will bring her up in the Lord and that throughout her entire earthly life she will faithfully hear, read, and study God’s Word, remember her baptism, and partake of the Lord’s Supper so that her faith in Jesus will continually grow and she will be empowered to remain faithful to Him all the days of her life and inherit eternal life.

Reaching Rural America For Christ: Our congregation will be hosting a LCMS Rural & Small Town Mission Workshop on Saturday, September 28 from 8 to 3 here at our church. Many of our congregations are concerned about shrinking membership and fewer children and families in worship. There is no “one size fits all” solution. However through this event, congregational leaders will be encouraged as they see new opportunities for engaging their communities and filled with hope for the future. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. There is NO cost for members of our congregation to attend. Pre-registration is required and must be done by SEPT. 20. A signup sheet will be available in the lounge on the table.
