News and Notes for Sunday, June 3, 2012

Sacred Acts – Baptism: This morning through Holy Baptism God will declare Avery Marie Lunn; daughter of Joshua Lunn and Amy Schmidt, to be His child whom He dearly loves. This is because through Baptism God will wash away all her sins and plant the seed of faith in Jesus as her Savior. Avery’s Godparents are Jonathan Gates and Lynn Schmidt. We praise God for His gifts of forgiveness and faith through His Word and Sacraments. We pray that Avery will be brought up in the knowledge of the Lord so that she will remain steadfast in Christ all the days of our lives and receive the crown of eternal life.

The Rite Of Confirmation: This morning Catherine Grace Budinger and Natalie Samantha Taylor will confess their faith in God – Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit in the Rite of Confirmation. They will especially confess their faith in God’s Son, Jesus Christ, as their Lord and Savior. We praise God and rejoice as they confess this God given faith for through such faith they possess the greatest gifts of all, forgiveness of sins, life with God here on earth, and eternal life with Him in the glory of heaven. Please pray that they will faithfully attend worship; hear, read, and study His word: and partake of the Lord’s Supper so that they, by God’s power, will remain in the Christian faith and life all the days of their lives and obtain eternal life.

The 2Nd Quarterly Congregational Voter’S Meeting will be held on Sunday, June 24, 2012 following worship. Agenda may include recommendations concerning the Cott estate. Other items may be announced prior to beginning of meeting.

Bbq Returns This Summer:  This year's theme is "The Church". We will explore on the basis of the Bible such questions as "What is the Church?"; "Whose Church really is it?"; "What is the purpose of the Church?";  "What are the responsibilities of the pastor and members of "The Church?".  The course will run for six weeks.  We will meet on Wednesdays in the Pavilion eginning at 5:30 PM.  (If it rains or is too cold, we will meet in the Dorcas Room.)  We will eat from 5:30 to 6:15 PM.  Our Bible Study will run from 6:15 to 7:15 PM.  The first study will be Wednesday, June 20th.  Hamburgers, hotdogs, condiments, and drinks will be upplied.  Participants are asked to bring a salad or dessert.  There will be a free will offering to help defray some expenses. If you are interested, please sign-up in the church lounge.  We need volunteers to set-up, cook, and clean-up.  (These tasks will not take long.)  Please come.  Bring a friend.  I believe you will find this study most interesting and helpful.

Upcoming Graduates! Please notify the church office so we can recognize your achievement! Thanks!
